I would like to suggest the following general parameters, which would apply to each volume. In the future, we may hoose to make a more broad-based agreement, but I feel that handling each volume on an individual basis will work best for the time being: - IAENG will select and assign an Editor to manage the process of choosing the best papers from each conference or conference track. - The Editor will be responsible for choosing the papers and ensuring that they are revised, reviewed, and prepared for publication as book chapters. - The Editor or the IAENG will submit a brief proposal to me for each volume, subject to my review and preparation of a contract. - Springer reserves the right to decline any proposal. - The manuscript will be delivered within three months of the corresponding conference. - The manuscript will follow a template, which I can provide to you and to the editors. - Springer will produce and publish each volume, and offer editorial support for editors and contributors. - Each volume will be a minimum of 200 pages of content. - The IAENG will agree to purchase a minimum of 100 copies of each volume, at a discount of 35% from the list price. - Larger bulk purchases and corresponding discount schedules can be discussed for any volume. - The Editor will receive 30 free copies of the volume upon publication. If these general guidelines meet with your approval, I can send you the proposal form to get things started. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know. I look forward to working with you. All the best, Jason -----Original Message----- From: William Young [mailto:williamyoung@iaeng.org] Sent: Thursday, March 01, 2007 11:15 AM To: Ward, Jason, Springer US Cc: publication@iaeng.org; wcecs@iaeng.org Subject: Re: Inquiry concerning Conference publications Dear Dr. Jason Ward, It is our honour that you would like to have volumes from our IAENG conferences for the new series Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering. It is our pleasure to cooperate with you for these volumes to get published with Springer. As you know, we are organizing different conferences in the engineering subjects, including the electrical engineering subjects like the networks and communications etc. In our recent congress IMECS 2007 ( http://www.iaeng.org/IMECS2007/ ), we have attracted more than one thousand and one hundred papers. Thus, it is a good opportunity for the selected authors to write the expanded papers for the volumes in this new series. Also, with the supports from the authors and from our committee members, it would not be difficult for us to purchase a certain number of copies of the volumes if required. It would be our pleasure if you can inform us more details of the preparation of the volumes for this series. Then, we can send the details to our congress co-chairs and committee members for preparing the initial works of the volume. We are looking forward to your reply and to the success of the coming volumes in your new series. If you have any question, you are welcome to tell us. I am the editor at Springer responsible for books in electrical engineering, and I was browsing your website. I see that the WCECS tracks include a range of meetings in the areas of networks, communications, and other elements of electrical engineering. Given the large number of conferences, and the range of papers published in your proceedings, it seems that there may be an opportunity to develop additional volumes based on selected and expanded papers from these meetings. IAENG could identify the best papers from each meeting, have them revised and expanded to chapter length, and published as standalone edited books. Springer is in the process of developing a new book series, Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering, and this sort of publication would be ideal for the series. If this is something that might be of interest, please let me know. With best wishes, Jason Ward Editor, Engineering Springer 101 Philip Drive Norwell, MA 02061 USA 781-681-0504 jason.ward@springer.com
